Important update for parents and carers
First of all, we hope you are all keeping safe and well. And thank you so much for all the lovely messages of support and the pictures of the children joining in with Highbury@home.
When we closed temporarily on Sunday night we said we’d look at our contingency plans. Since then, there have been more changes and more guidance and we’ve been working with the Local Authority and the other Special Schools in Calderdale to make our plans.
We have followed the guidelines to risk assess all our children and to identify those of you who are key workers. We’ve identified the children who actually need to be in school and contacted those parents or carers directly. As you’d expect, the majority of our children can be cared for safely at home. We recognise that this isn’t easy for you and that circumstances are changing all the time. So we will be continuing our approach of supporting you through Highbury@home and also through personal conversations.
If you have any concerns please contact your child’s class teacher in the first place. We will continue to risk assess on a case by case basis and through a weekly assessment of staffing capacity.
Finally, can we say again how much we appreciate your support and we hope you and your families stay safe and well.
