Highbury School is an outstanding specialist school for pupils with severe and profound learning difficulties aged 4-11, including learners who have additional needs such ASD, medical difficulties, sensory impairments and challenging behaviour. Judged ‘outstanding’ at out last inspection in October 2018, we are all committed to ensuring that our practice continues to move forward.

Our classes are organised according to pupil need and ability.

We are looking to appoint a teacher to teach in one of our needs-based classes.

The successful applicant will be hard working, resilient, highly motivated and enthusiastic. We can offer a commitment to professional development which is outstanding and includes a comprehensive induction package and ongoing opportunities to develop the necessary skills and knowledge to be an outstanding teacher in this very specialist area of education.

We would welcome applications from Early Career Teachers who have demonstrated an interest and commitment in the specialist sector.


The successful candidate will:

  • Be an outstanding teacher who has a commitment to lifelong learning to continue to develop their own knowledge and skills.
  • Work well with a dedicated staff team to transform the lives of some of the most vulnerable children with moderate and multiple complex learning difficulties, autistic spectrum disorders and physical disabilities.
  • Communicate and engage effectively with children, staff, families, outside agencies, governors and the wider community.
  • Be committed to leading improvements in teaching and learning.
  • Have a deep understanding of early child development.
